Unused medications in the home can be misused, taken by accident or end up in the water supply if flushed. Bring them to the Dongvile Constabulary for safe disposal.
Pull into the front parking lot and stay in your vehicle. A constable will take your medications and drop them in a sealed collection box. There’s no paperwork. Constables will not ask what the medication was for.
Accepted
- Prescription and over-the-counter tablets, capsules and pills
- Patches and ointments
- Liquid medications in their original, tightly sealed containers
- Pet medications
You can leave pills in the bottle. We recommend removing or blacking out the label first.
Not accepted
- Needles, syringes and other sharps
- Inhalers and aerosol cans
- Thermometers containing mercury
- Illegal drugs
To dispose of sharps at home, place them in a rigid plastic container with a screw-on lid, such as a laundry detergent bottle. Tape the lid shut, label it “Sharps – Do Not Recycle” and put it in your regular trash.
Can’t make it?
The medication drop box in the Constabulary lobby is available 24 hours a day, all year.
