Privacy Policy
This website is built to collect as little about you as possible. Here's exactly what it does and doesn't do with your information.

Cookies and browser storage
This website does not use cookies to track you, show you advertising or measure your visits. It does not load advertising networks, social media widgets or third-party analytics.
A few features store a small preference in your own browser. For example, if you close an alert banner, the site remembers that until you close the tab so the banner doesn’t come back on every page. That preference stays on your device and is never sent to the City. You can block or clear browser storage at any time, and the site will still work.
Forms on this website
Some pages on this website, such as Report a Concern, Notify Me and the utility bill lookup, include forms. These forms do not transmit or store any information. Nothing you type into them is sent to the City, saved or seen by City staff.
When you submit one of these forms, the page shows a confirmation number, such as DV-2026-04471. The number is generated in your browser for your reference only. City staff can’t look it up, and it does not mean the City has received a request.
To actually make a request, report a problem or sign up for something, contact the department by phone, by email or in person. Department phone numbers and emails are on the Contact page. To get City notices by email, call or email the City Secretary’s office. The list is kept in a binder at City Hall.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, the server that delivers dongvile.us automatically records basic information about each request:
- Your IP address.
- The date and time.
- The page address you requested, including any search terms in it.
- The page that linked you here, if any.
- Your browser and operating system type.
The City and its hosting provider use these logs only to keep the site secure, fix problems and count overall page visits. Logs are deleted after 30 days. The City does not use them to identify individual visitors and does not share them except as required by law, such as by court order.
The interactive zoning map at gis.dongvile.us works the same way. Address and parcel searches on the map are processed in your browser.
Email and phone contact
If you email a City department, your message and your email address are received by City staff and become government records. The City keeps them according to the records retention schedules issued by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the Local Government Records Act. Please don’t email sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or medical information.
Public Information Act
Information the City collects or keeps, including email you send to the City, is generally public under the Texas Public Information Act (Tex. Gov’t Code ch. 552) and may be released if someone asks for it, unless the law makes it confidential. Some protections that may apply to you:
- Your email address is confidential under Tex. Gov’t Code §552.137 unless you agree to its release. That includes addresses on the City’s notification list.
- Utility customers may ask the City to keep their personal information confidential under Tex. Util. Code §182.052. Submit a written request to Utility Billing at City Hall.
For more about public records, see Public Information Requests.
Children
This website is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Links to other websites
This website links to state and federal agencies and other organizations. Their privacy practices are their own, and the City is not responsible for them. Please read the privacy policy of any website you visit.
Security
Every page on dongvile.us is delivered over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No system is completely secure, which is one more reason this website does not collect your information in the first place.
Changes to this policy
The City may update this policy. The “Last updated” date on this page shows when it last changed.
Questions
Questions about this policy go to the City Secretary, Margie Dubose, TRMC, at (936) 555-0110 or citysecretary@dongvile.us, or in person at City Hall, 150 E Brisket St.
