Website Policies

The ground rules for dongvile.us: what you may reuse, what we link to, what this website can and can't promise, and how we moderate comments.

About this website

dongvile.us is the official website of God’s Incorporated City of Dongvile, Texas. The City Manager’s Office manages the website, and each department is responsible for keeping its own pages accurate and current.

Official records

This website is a convenient copy of City information, not the official record. The official versions of ordinances, resolutions, minutes, budgets and other records are kept by the City Secretary at City Hall, 150 E Brisket St. If anything on this website differs from the official record, the official record controls. Certified copies are available from the City Secretary.

Linking to this website

You may link to any page on dongvile.us without asking permission. We ask that you:

  • Don’t display our pages inside a frame on your website or present them as your own content.
  • Don’t suggest that the City endorses you, your business, your product or your candidate.
  • Don’t use the City seal as a link graphic.

Page addresses sometimes change when the website is reorganized. Linking to a section’s main page, such as /business/ or /residents/, is the most reliable choice.

Most information on this website was created by City employees as part of their work. It is public information, and you may copy, share and reuse it without permission. A credit line such as “Source: City of Dongvile” is appreciated but not required.

Some exceptions apply:

  • The City seal may be used only for official City business. Any other use needs written approval from the City Manager.
  • Third-party material, such as photographs, maps and reports prepared by outside consultants, may be protected by copyright held by others. Ask before reusing it.
  • Documents from other agencies, such as TxDOT or the Texas Comptroller, belong to those agencies and are subject to their terms.

Disclaimer

The City provides this website as a public service. The City works to keep the information accurate and current, but it does not guarantee that any information on the website is complete, accurate or up to date, and the information is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind.

  • Fees, rates, schedules and deadlines can change by ordinance or by Council action. Before you rely on one, confirm it with the department.
  • Lookup tools, maps and examples on this website are for general information only. Official determinations about zoning, flood zones, permits or utility charges come from the responsible department in writing.
  • The City is not liable for any loss or damage that results from the use of, or the inability to use, this website or the information on it.
  • Nothing on this website creates a contract, grants any right or waives any immunity or defense available to the City, including governmental immunity under the Texas Tort Claims Act (Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code ch. 101).

This website links to government agencies, such as TxDOT, TCEQ, TABC, FEMA, the Texas Comptroller and the National Weather Service, and to public partners such as Brisket County and Dongvile ISD. The City links to other websites for your convenience. It does not control their content, privacy practices or accessibility, and a link is not an endorsement.

The City does not link to commercial websites. The Business Directory lists names, addresses and hours as a public service, and a listing is not an endorsement. Found a broken link? Email info@dongvile.us.

Social media comment policy

The City posts news, alerts, meeting notices and event information on its official social media accounts. Those accounts are a limited public forum, and comments are welcome as long as they are related to the post.

The City may hide or remove comments that:

  1. Contain obscene, profane or sexually explicit language or images.
  2. Threaten or harass any person or group, or promote violence.
  3. Are spam, or advertise or solicit for a business or commercial product.
  4. Support or oppose a candidate or ballot measure. (The City may not use public resources for political advertising under Tex. Elec. Code §255.003.)
  5. Share someone else’s personal information, such as a home address, phone number or account number.
  6. Encourage illegal activity or violate someone else’s copyright.
  7. Are clearly off-topic for the post. Comments about the color of the Dongvile Water Tower are considered on-topic on every post.

The City does not remove comments because of the viewpoint they express. Comments are public records under the Texas Public Information Act and are kept according to the City’s records retention schedule, including removed comments.

Members of City Council may follow the City’s accounts but don’t discuss City business with each other in comments, to stay within the Texas Open Meetings Act (Tex. Gov’t Code ch. 551).
