Board and Commission Vacancies: Apply by November 13

The Dongvile City Council is accepting applications from residents for seven open seats on City boards and commissions. Applications are due to the City Secretary’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026.
Council will make appointments at its regular meeting on Tuesday, December 1, 2026. New terms begin January 1, 2027.

The Airport Advisory Board seat is reserved for a licensed pilot.
Appointments to the Zoning Board of Adjustment (Alternate 2) and to the Water Tower Paint Ad Hoc Committee, which has been short one member since a resignation in August, are on Council’s October 6 agenda. Under Resolution R-2024-07, the committee meets until a decision is reached. Applicants for future openings should plan accordingly.
Who can apply
To serve, you must:
- Have lived inside the Dongvile city limits for at least 12 months
- Be registered to vote in Brisket County
- Be current on City property taxes and your City utility account
Within 90 days of appointment, new members must complete the state’s free Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act training, as required by Texas Government Code §551.005 and §552.012.
How to apply
Pick up a Board and Commission Application at the front counter of City Hall, 150 E Brisket St, or at the Dongvile Public Library. You can also call the City Secretary’s office and ask to have one mailed to you.
Return your completed application in person at City Hall, in the drop box by the City Hall front door, or by mail to City Secretary, P.O. Box 1887, Dongvile, TX 76969. Applications must be received, not postmarked, by the deadline. Applications from 2025 and earlier are not carried over, so please submit a new one.
“Our boards do a lot of the City’s real work, from zoning variances to library hours to the runway,” said Mayor Gunther Tilbortion. “If you’ve ever had an opinion about any of those, this is how you put it to use.”
